This report focuses on not only the violence inflicted on women under the garb of witch hunting, but its long term causes, consequences and its legal and policy implications in the form of recommendations. The consolidated report prepared by PLD, pursuant to a series of consultations which were supported by NCW, is the only comprehensive report on witch hunting of its kind. In the consultations, we found that despite ongoing initiatives for state laws on witch hunting and discussions on the value of a central law, the cases presented at the consultations show that the problem lies with the implementation of the law.
